Former 온라인카지노 cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was honoured by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) with a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium on 16 May 2025.
During the inauguration of the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’ on Friday, the 38-year-old Mumbai batter was congratulated on his achievements, becoming one of the finest batters of the last 20 years. The new stand will be a part of the Divecha Pavilion, Level 3 of the iconic stadium in Rohit’s hometown.
During the inauguration ceremony, Rohit got visibly emotional with the honour, and said that playing in the upcoming IPL match for Mumbai 온라인카지노s (MI) at the stadium on 21 May would be “a surreal feeling”.
“And to have a stand, it will be a very, very special feeling. And it’ll be even more special while representing the country,” the batter said. “Whenever that happens, it's going to mean even more.”
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Sharad Pawar. Also present were Rohit’s parents, Gurunath and Purnima Sharma, and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh.
“So many people, especially my mom and dad, my brother, his wife, and my wife – very special people in my life – have sacrificed so much for me to be standing here today,” the Borivalli-born batter said.
Ritika Sajdeh was seen trying to hold back tears while the stand was being inaugurated, with her emotional moment going viral on social media. Social media users also took notice of the pride that Rohit’s mother, Purnima Sharma, had on her face during the event.
Along with Rohit’s family, the entire MI squad was present to support their former skipper.
Rohit Sharma recently announced his retirement from Test cricket on 8 May, bringing an end to a fantastic red-ball career that stretched 67 matches, yielding 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57, with 12 centuries and 18 fifties.
