This will be the third meeting between Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz on the ATP Tour. The Spaniard has won both the previous encounters: at the Laver Cup in 2024 and the Miami Open quarter-final in 2023.

Alcaraz needed five sets to prevail over 38-year-old Italian Fabio Fognini in the first round, but has sailed smoothly since.
