Sri Lanka have named a balanced and intriguing 16-member squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, starting July 2 in Colombo. The headline inclusion is the return of left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka, who missed the home series against Australia in February due to injury.

Fit again, Madushanka replaces Lahiru Kumara, who is sidelined with an injury of his own.

The selectors have also called up all-rounder Milan Rathnayake, who is yet to make his white-ball debut for Sri Lanka despite having featured in five Tests. Rathnayake, currently recovering from a side strain that kept him out of the ongoing Test series, is expected to regain fitness in time for the ODIs.

On the batting front, wicketkeeper-batter Sadeera Samarawickrama earns a recall after being dropped following the tour of India in late 2024. Sadeera replaces Nuwanidu Fernando, as the team management looks to inject experience and depth into the middle order.

The top-order options are bolstered by the presence of Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, and Nishan Madushka, with skipper Charith Asalanka set to anchor the batting group.

The bowling unit offers a strong mix of pace and spin. Alongside Madushanka, Eshan Malinga — rewarded for his impressive IPL 2025 campaign with Sunrisers Hyderabad — and Asitha Fernando complete the seam attack.

Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dunith Wellalage form a potent spin quartet, giving Sri Lanka plenty of variety for home conditions.

After the ODIs in Colombo and Pallekele, attention will shift to a three-match T20I series beginning July 10, where Sri Lanka will look to fine-tune their combinations further ahead of major white-ball assignments.

Sri Lanka's ODI Squad:

Charith Asalanka (capt), Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Nishan Madushka, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranaga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Milan Rathnayake, Dilshan Madushanka, Asitha Fernando, Eshan Malinga.
