Sri Lanka are set to clash with Bangladesh in the opening match of the three-match ODI bilateral series starting on Wednesday, 2 July 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The hosts are coming after winning the two-match Test series 1-0, where Pathum Nissanka was named Player of the Series for his multiple tons. Sri Lanka won the second and final Test match by an innings and 78 runs.
Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has stepped down from the role in the red-ball format and will try to continue his good form with the bat in the 50-over format. He made twin hundreds in the first Test match and became the first Bangladesh captain to do so.
Mustafizur Rahman has been included in the Bangla side, which also has Nahid Rana, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Hasan Mahmud. Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali is expected to strengthen the middle-order.
