Day 2: Stumps - England U19 trail by 310 runs

We are underway now and Henit Patel is bowling the first over of the day. Ekansh Singh on strike and Thomas Rew stands on the other end.

Henil Patel kept it tight in that over. Thomas Rew stayed watchful, offering solid defence to two consecutive deliveries, both on a good line, both ending in dot balls. No runs, no risks.

A good start to the day for Ekansh Singh and Thomas Rew. They have seen off 11 overs and gleaned 21 runs to England's overnight score. India would not be too disappointed though. It is a good batting track and they will have to be patient.

Ekansh Singh gets to a well-deserved half-century, and is the batter to watch out for as the India colts look to wrap up the English innings and gain a sizeable lead. Ralphie Albert now giving Ekansh company after the dismissal of Thomas Rew (34).

Meanwhile, here's a quick look at what's transpiring in the India women's white-ball tour of England. India lost a last-ball thriller to England in the fifth and final T20I, but won the series 3-2 anyway, having clinched it a game in advance. India finally manage to clean up the England Under-19 tail. The hosts are dismissed for 439 runs, which gives Ayush Mhatre's boys a lead of 101-run lead at the change over. He then walks out to bat alongside Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and the duo get India colts off to a swift start.

Captain Mhatre falls for a 43-ball 32, but teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to score runs at a fast clip, as his wont. The southpaw gets to an unbeaten 46 off 35 balls, giving India just the kind of launchpad they needed. With 50 minutes of play still left in the day, the visitors will look to stretch the lead as far as possible to have enough time to try and bowl England colts out in the fourth innings.

Over at Lord's, it is the most unbelievable ending to what has been a remarkably well-fought Test. Could a more cruel finish to India's exemplary defiance have been possible? Overspin from Shoaib Bashir and the softest of touches to the base of the stumps, and Mohammed Siraj is left crestfallen. Despite doing all the right things and giving Ravindra Jadeja the best company he could hope for, wretched luck means the heroic 10th wicket stand is broken and India lose the third Test to England by 22 runs.

INDU19 128/3 (28) lead by 229 runs

Suryavanshi falls for a 44-ball 56 and Maulyarajsinh Chavda (3) follows soon after, leaving India three down at stumps. The lead has swelled to 229 runs, and with a full day's play, all four results are still possible, though an England win appears improbable at this stage. For India to win, too, a bunch of early wickets will be needed on Day 4. But it all depends on when the declaration comes.
