England U19 are set to host India U19 in a five-match Youth ODI series on 27 June, with the first match taking place at the County Ground in Hove. The India under-19 side, led by Chennai Super Kings’ starlet Ayush Mhatre, will lead their charge against an in-form England side fresh off the back of a tour of South Africa.
India’s team will have captain Mhatre, who shone for CSK in IPL 2025, including a 94-run knock off 48 balls. The star of the team, however, is Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose record-breaking 35-ball century made him the youngest centurion in men’s T20 history.
Another up-and-coming star is Saurashtra U19 wicketkeeper Harvansh Pangalia, who struck an unbeaten century against England U19 during a warm-up ODI on 24 June.
Meanwhile, England U19 will be led by the batting prowess of Hampshire youngster Ben Mayes and Middlesex youth player James Isbell. The latter scored a century against Scotland U19 during the tri-nation series last year.
James Minto, the left-arm pacer from the Durham youth team, has taken seven wickets in his last three games and will lead the bowling attack for the hosts.
The first youth ODI match will take place on the flat pitch of Hove, which will assist the batting approach of both sides, making for a potential high-run game for the neutrals.
