Deepak Yadav, 49, accused of fatally shooting his daughter and promising tennis player Radhika Yadav, was remanded to one-day police custody by a court here on Friday. Police had initially sought a two-day remand, reported PTI
According to PTI, investigators stated that the primary objective of the remand is to recover ammunition for Yadav's licensed revolver, the weapon allegedly used in the crime. "We have to recover the ammunition of his licensed revolver... We have to verify how much ammunition he had procured," a police official told reporters outside the court.
The official added that the recovery is expected to be made from Yadav's land in Kasam village near Rewari.
Deepak Yadav reportedly shot his 25-year-old daughter at their double-storey residence in the upscale Sushant Lok area on Thursday. He has confessed to the crime.
PTI reported that the Police are currently investigating all possible angles in the murder, including the role and whereabouts of Radhika's mother, Manju Yadav, during the incident. According to an FIR registered based on the complaint of Radhika's uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, Manju Yadav was present on the first floor of the house when the shooting occurred.
Early reports suggest the motive behind the shocking crime may stem from disagreements over Radhika's tennis academy and alleged taunts Deepak Yadav received for "living off his daughter's earnings." Police are also reportedly looking into the possibility of tensions arising from Radhika's social media presence and a music video she featured in.
