Tom Cruise starrer Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be screened out of competition at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival today, May 14. Cruise graced the red carpet in a black tuxedo. He wore a pair of cool shades to complete his look. The 62-year-old turned heads and owned the 2025 Cannes red carpet with his charm and sophistication.
Before walking the red carpet, the handsome hunk signed autographs for fans who cheered loudly outside the venue. Director Christopher McQuarrie also arrived and interacted with the public.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning theme song was played live as Cruise, McQuarrie and the cast walked the red carpet.
This marks Tom Cruise’s third appearance at the Croisette. He made his Cannes debut with Ron Howard’s 1992 romance Far and Away and his second appearance in 2022, for Top Gun: Maverick. During his last Cannes appearance, the actor was awarded with the honorary Palme d’Or. He also gave a masterclass to the attendees.
Earlier today, Tom made a surprise appearance at the masterclass event of Cannes, to celebrate his longtime friend and filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie, as per Deadline. McQuarrie, spoke about his partnership with Cruise.
"When I met him, I was going to quit the business. What I know about working with him for so long is that Tom is always a student. He's eager to learn from the people around him," McQuarrie said.
Cruise added, "I've studied his career before we met. I read his scripts, and I think that the thing that we always talk about when I read his scripts is that you could hear it. You could see it. And I felt the filmmaker's mind in the story, the craftsmanship of his work, where he's writing it editorially".
For the unversed, Cruise and McQuarrie worked together on over 11 films, including Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow, and five Mission: Impossible films.
