Hosts South Africa will take on West Indies in their opening game of the  2024, looking to get early points on the board. The pair have been drawn alongside England and Scotland in a difficult group, with the two top teams at the end of six games progressing to the next round. (More Cricket News) 

Controversy filled the  camp on the eve of the tournament, with captain David Teeger demoted for causing a stir with his controversial comments. Juan James replaced him as the skipper and laid down why he believes his team has more than a decent chance of winning the trophy. 

“The fact that we never give up in tough situations. There have been countless times where we have been in difficult situations but we showed resilience and pushed through," he said. 

On the opposite end are , who will be looking to spoil the hosts' party when they meet on January 19. Speaking on media day, West Indies' captain Stephan Pascal listed his team's characteristics that he believes can help them get over the line. 

“Togetherness, flair and intensity. The West Indies teams over the years have had flair and it is no different with this unit. Togetherness and intensity have been shown every time we go out," Pascal said.
