Out of nowhere, Ismael Diaz gives Panama the lead. There was a stroke of fortune involved, as Diaz faked the defender in front of him and took it onto his left. He let out a bullet shot towards the goal, but a huge deflection of Leon Bailey completely wrong-footed Blake, and it gives Panama the perfect start.

PAN 1-0 JAM (4’)

Panama almost had another goal from another deflection. Escobar tried to square the ball across the face of the goal, and it took a soft deflection off Pinnock, but, fortunately for Jamaica, was caught by an alert Blake.

PAN 1-0 JAM (9’)

Panama have nearly 80% of ball possession in the first half, but just that one shot on goal that resulted in the opener. Jamaica are chasing shadows at the moment.

The attacking pressure eventually becomes too much to bear for the Reggae Boyz, as Ismael Diaz receives the ball on the edge of the box. He takes a step over and then accelerates, finding the far corner with another hard-hit shot that beats Blake.

PAN 2-0 JAM (17’)

A terrific ball finds Lembikisa on the right flank, with the full-back timing his run perfectly. The Wolves youngster accelerates and puts it into the box, and Bell outjumps his marker to head to ball into the net.

PAN 2-1 JAM (27’)

As things stand, Jamaica need to score FOUR goals to have a chance of going through, considering Panama don’t score again. Michail Antonio is warming up with that thought in mind. The Reggae Boyz are committing numbers forward to get at least another goal before half-time, but there are gaps at back for Panama to exploit.

PAN 2-1 JAM (39’)

Palmer pulls the shirt of Londono at the edge of the box. It was a needless challenge as the ball was away from the Panamanian player. The referee points to the spot, but VAR takes a look to see if the challenge was inside the box or not. It’s a short review, and the penalty is confirmed.

Ismael Diaz steps up to take the penalty kick. It’s a long runup, and Diaz makes no mistake, finding the right corner to complete his hat-trick.

PAN 3-1 JAM (45’)

After ten minutes of added time played, it’s drama to the end as Jamaica claim a penalty for a challenge inside the box against Brown. The referee had blown for offside, but replays show it’s unlikely to be the case. VAR takes a hard look and decides that it was onside, but it remained to be seen if Gutierrez’s challenge is deemed a foul. It’s a long, agonising wait as the referee checks the monitor, but the decision is made – NO PENALTY!

PAN 3-1 JAM (90+16’)

An hour-long half comes to an end. It was crazy and chaotic, but Panama lead. Jamaica need a half a dozen goals in the second half to progress, which you can’t write off in a Concacaf match.

A double change for Jamaica, with Leigh and Cephas coming on. Meanwhile, Panama bring on Jose Luis Rodriguez and Carlos Harvey. Can Jamaica score at least three goals, which will ensure their qualification?

PAN 3-1 JAM (46’)

The first three-plus minutes of the second half has seen a rejuvenated Jamaica side. The first shot comes from Demarai Gray outside of the box from the left side, but it’s rising and goes over the bar. However, positive signs for the Reggae Boyz.

We’re into the final 10 minutes and Jamaica are still pushing hard. It’s shaping up to be a thrilling finish, with the crowd fully behind their teams, creating an electric atmosphere as the match heads toward its climax.

That’s a wrap. It ends Panama 4–1 Jamaica. A late fourth goal sealed the deal for the Panamanians, who finish top of the group and march into the next round with a perfect record.
