In an embarrassing and bizarre twist for 온라인카지노 cricket’s apex body, a 40-year-old private security guard has been arrested for allegedly stealing an entire carton of official IPL 2025 jerseys from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

According to Zee News, the accused, identified as Farooque Aslam Khan, reportedly stole 261 jerseys valued at ₹2,500 each, amounting to a theft worth approximately ₹6.52 lakh.

Theft Went Unnoticed For Over A Month

According to Mumbai Police, the theft occurred on June 13, but it wasn’t discovered until a recent stock audit revealed a discrepancy. The BCCI subsequently reviewed CCTV footage and spotted Khan carrying a large cardboard box out of the premises, which led to a formal complaint being filed at the Marine Drive police station on July 17.

A police official told Zee News, “We are investigating whether the dealer had any prior knowledge about the stolen nature of the goods. So far, we’re verifying the guard’s claim that he lost the money from the sale to gambling.”

Jerseys Sold Through Online Dealer

Khan, who had been deployed as a private security guard at the BCCI office, was reportedly addicted to online gambling. To fund his betting habit, he allegedly reached out to a Haryana-based online jersey dealer via social media, and portrayed the stock as part of a clearance sale due to “renovation work” at the stadium.

Police have managed to recover only 50 of the 261 stolen jerseys so far. The Haryana dealer, when questioned, claimed he was unaware that the jerseys were stolen and believed they were part of a surplus inventory sale.

A source quoted in Zee News said, “The financial transaction between Khan and the dealer is also under scrutiny, as Khan has not disclosed how much he earned from the sale.”

Authorities are currently reviewing Khan’s bank records and betting history to determine the full extent of the criminal activity and financial trail.

BCCI Files Complaint, Security Concerns Emerge

The BCCI has taken the matter seriously, having lodged an official police complaint after internal verification. While the intended purpose of the jerseys — whether for players, fans, or promotional use — is still unclear, the incident has highlighted lapses in security at cricket’s highest administrative body.

The Mumbai Police continue to investigate whether Khan acted alone or was part of a larger network. The remaining 211 jerseys are yet to be recovered, and further questioning of both Khan and the Haryana-based dealer is underway.
