The game kicks off with a boundary, and that’s not the kind of start you want to offer Sai Sudharsan. Thakur digs it in short and wide outside off, but Sai’s quick to pounce, slapped cleanly between point and cover point for four. He’s not someone you want growing in confidence this early.
GT 6/0 (1)
Rathi bowls it over the wicket, short of length at 87.8kph, and Gill knocks it towards wide mid-on. Without a second thought, he calls for two, and the pair race between the wickets with sharp running. The call was spot on, and the crowd can sense the energy picking up as they push for every run.
Avesh is greeted with a massive six! The ball, bowled at 129.2kph, lands short of a length and on the pads. Sai Sudharsan doesn't miss his chance, whipping it cleanly up and over deep backward square leg. He middles it perfectly, and the ball sails over the ropes, bringing up GT's fifty in style.
A strong powerplay from Gujarat Titans, with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan leading the charge. While Ekana isn’t typically a batter-friendly pitch, the openers have made it look easy, putting together a solid 50-run partnership. With the foundation laid, both will now be eyeing half-centuries as they look to accelerate.
A full and quicker delivery at 100kph, just outside off, Shubman Gill stays composed and punches it down to long-off for a single. That run brings up his half-century, a well-paced and assured knock at the top of the order.
Ravi Bishnoi fires it in full at 94.1kph but strays down the leg side, called wide. Sai Sudharsan goes for the sweep but fails to connect. Rishabh Pant does well behind the stumps to gather cleanly. That extra brings up 100 for Gujarat Titans.
A rare loose delivery from Digvesh Rathi, full and drifting down leg as Sai Sudharsan backs away. The left-hander gets down low and nails the sweep, sending it racing square past short fine leg for four. That boundary brings up his 10th IPL fifty, a classy knock filled with timing, control, and intent.
Shubman Gill falls for 60! Avesh Khan serves it full in the slot at 122.3kph, and Gill looks to clear long-on but miscues it. The ball goes high, not far, and Aiden Markram at long-on times his jump perfectly to take a clean catch just inside the rope. Much-needed breakthrough for LSG.
Jos Buttler comes to the crease.
GT 122/1 (12.4)
Sherfane Rutherford, the left-handed batter, walks to the crease as Buttler takes strike. Buttler pushes a short of length delivery, angled in on off, to the left of mid-wicket. Himmat Singh charges in, gathering the ball with a swift under-arm throw, but misses the stumps by inches. Buttler, clearly struggling, keeps his head down and sprints, narrowly escaping a direct hit.
Buttler departs. A crucial breakthrough for Digvesh Rathi as he sends Buttler back for 16 off 14 balls, including 2 fours.
Rathi delivers a full ball outside off, and Buttler, looking to capitalize, reverse-sweeps it powerfully over backward point for a boundary. The ball finds the gap, racing to the boundary, but Rathi strikes back immediately.
Rutherford doesn't score. Excellent bowling as Digvesh Rathi delivers a very full ball, wide outside off. Rutherford stretches to reach it and tries to squeeze it out, but misses. He reviews, hoping for a wide call, but the umpire remains unmoved.
Rutherford doesn’t score. A full, wide delivery outside off, Rutherford reaches for it but misses. He reviews for a wide, and third umpire Michael Gough takes his time. No spike on UltraEdge, and the review is turned down.
Shahrukh Khan launches it for six. A juicy low full-toss drifting outside leg stump, and he doesn’t miss out. Swings through it cleanly and sends it flat over the deep backward square leg boundary, clears it comfortably on the full.
Gujarat Titans post 180/6, but Lucknow Super Giants will take that after GT raced to 120/0 in 12 overs. Avesh Khan broke the opening stand, Bishnoi struck twice in one over, and the death bowlers nailed their plans, especially with wide lines to Rutherford. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan gave GT a strong start, but LSG's fightback was sharp. The pitch isn't easy, cutters are gripping, and Marsh is missing. The chase could get spicy. Back in five.
Siraj opens the bowling as Markram faces the first delivery, a good length ball on middle and leg, which he tucks away to deep square-leg for a single to get off the mark. Pant then faces Siraj, who delivers a full and wide ball outside off.
Pant reaches for it, attempting to drive, but misses and is beaten on the bottom edge. On the next ball, Siraj bowls a short delivery, and Pant nudges it to short mid-wicket for a single.
Siraj bowls to Markram, and it’s FOUR. Markram opens his account with a crisp drive, meeting the length ball on middle perfectly. The ball races wide of mid-off and into the boundary.
Markram cracks the ball to the boundary. Arshad Khan at short third man completely misjudges the timing and the ball races past him for four. A well-directed bouncer follows, angling outside leg stump, and Markram attempts to upper-cut it. Buttler, however, leaps high and snatches the ball from the air with his right glove.
Pant starts with a boundary, driving it sweetly through the covers for four. But just as he’s looking to build momentum, he’s caught at deep third! A powerful shot, but Pant’s luck runs out. He’s gone, caught after a promising start, trying to clear the boundary once too often.
Nicholas Pooran comes to the crease.
LSG 65/1 (6.3)
Pooran cracks a full delivery back hard, but Rashid Khan at long-on gets his hands to it, only for the ball to burst through and put him down. It’s a tough one for Rashid, and the ball races away for two runs.
It looks like it hurt his left hand as the ball made contact with his fingertips. The physio comes out to check on him as he takes a moment to recover.
Aiden Markram brings up his fifty with a well-timed single off a quicker delivery angled in on middle and leg, nudging it behind square. He wastes no time following it up, smashing the very next ball from Sai Kishore to the boundary for a solid four runs.
Aiden Markram’s fine knock of 58 off 31 balls comes to an end, almost mirroring Shubman Gill’s dismissal. A slower ball outside off on a good length, Markram goes for the lofted drive but gets the toe end of the bat. Gill, under the ball at long-off, takes a sharp catch to remove Markram and claim revenge for his own earlier dismissal.
Nicholas Pooran continues to put on a spectacular show. He slaps an off-cutter, dug in short and going across, over point for another boundary, bringing up yet another explosive half-century. It's been a masterclass from Pooran, six sixes and one four, showing just how dangerous he can be when in full flow.
Nicholas Pooran has to depart. A classic Rashid Khan delivery that catches Pooran off guard once again. He goes big, aiming for the long-on boundary, but only finds the fielder there. After a few words exchanged in good spirits, Pooran walks off, leaving the Gujarat Titans relieved. A crucial breakthrough for GT, and Rashid continues to assert his dominance.
The game is still on a knife-edge as Washington Sundar delivers to David Miller, OUT! A brilliant ball that stays unusually low, going right through Miller’s defense to hit the stumps. Miller departs for 7 off 11 balls. Lucknow Super Giants now need 7 runs off 8 balls. The tension is palpable.
Lucknow Super Giants beat Gujarat Titans by six wickets in a thrilling IPL encounter on Saturday. Chasing a target of 181, LSG reached 186/4 in 19.3 overs, with Aiden Markram (58) and Nicholas Pooran (61) leading the charge. Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten on 28 to guide LSG to victory.
Earlier, Gujarat posted 180/6, with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan both scoring half-centuries. Prasidh Krishna (2/26) was the best bowler for GT, while Ravi Bishnoi and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each for LSG. Despite a few late wickets, LSG’s steady chase secured their third consecutive win and fourth in five matches.
Aiden Markram reflected on his innings, saying, "Definitely flowing. There’s been a slight change in role, getting used to opening. The schedule’s packed, so you’re playing a lot of cricket. But it’s all about sticking to your plan. It’s easy to think about changing your approach when you’re batting alongside big hitters, but I stuck to my game. Early on in the competition, I thought about remodelling my game (smiles). I think the pitch did change a bit. It was a bit slower under the sun in the first innings, but it got better once the lights came on, and we were on the right side of the toss."
That's a wrap for now. Thanks for joining us. We’ll be back with another live blog soon. Until then, bye bye.
