Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday chaired a high-level meeting in Srinagar to address the long-standing grievances of families whose loved ones were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. He directed urgent action to deliver justice and provide comprehensive support to the affected families.

Emphasizing accountability, LG Sinha instructed Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to reopen previously buried cases, register FIRs, and ensure government jobs are provided to the next of kin (NoKs) on a priority basis. He also ordered the restoration of land and property grabbed from these families by terrorists or their sympathizers.

The LG called for the identification of individuals linked to the terror ecosystem—particularly those involved in civilian killings and currently employed in government departments.

To streamline support, LG Sinha announced the formation of a Special Cell in the LG Secretariat to address concerns of victim families, with a similar cell to be set up in the Chief Secretary's office. A toll-free helpline will also be introduced for their assistance.

“Every possible assistance will be extended to terror victim families, and those responsible for these heinous acts, some roaming free for decades, will be brought to justice,” said the LG.

He also directed officials to provide financial assistance under the MUDRA scheme and other support for family members looking to start self-employment ventures.

The meeting was attended by top officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, senior police and civil officers from across Jammu and Kashmir, and representatives from key government departments.
