According to reports, several passengers were stuck at the airport as flights were delayed or cancelled, while many flights were diverted.
Passengers of airlines including Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet and others faced flight disruptions. Vistara updated its customers about the rerouting of their flight from Delhi yesterday morning due to the runway closure.
“With the continuous efforts of concerned agencies, it is informed that...[the airport] is now available for operations...Hence, all commercial flights will be operating on 17.05.2023 [Wednesday] as per schedule. Wishing you all a very happy journey,” the airport authorities said in a tweet on Wednesday morning.
The airport in Leh is used for both military purposes and to operate passenger flights as well.
